Great video. Regarding bacteria, the only thing I would add is maybe brush your teeth with bottled water if you are only here for a short while or you are very sensitive.

  2. Dave SHARKINC says:

Yeah that was a brilliant video. You got me on the fruit stand. I order those blended drinks. Where are they getting the ice?.
How about the food in the terminal 21. Where you prepay the card and go around to the different vendors. They seem to be cooking it on the spot mostly. Oh and yes I have tried that stick BBQ and paid the price.
Does the food go cold in your stomach? In the bacteria come back? I understand eating it hot. That's a confusing question I guess. Anyway sometimes it pays to pay more and eat at the hotel. I seem to be okay with the hotel food.

  3. Rio4me4ever says:

I have seen many an unwary tourist watch as the street food is thoroughly cooked to be safe then proceed to use the squirt bottle of sauce that has been sitting out at room temperature all day.

  4. spchalupa says:

Moat common thing I hear from foreigners is thai food here different than thai they eat back at home. I think spices less in Europe or USA so people like.
I've never had an issue with thai food here in 25 years. But my stomach hurts if I eat Texas chicken or pizza factory. 555. I think not used to extra grease or flavors that not real. 🤭

  5. thaibillyboy says:

I can eat pretty much all Thai food, i love spicy but somtam with the crab is what gives me a bad tummy, i always get it without crab now, better with shrimp for me.

  6. H Gin says:

If you stomach is sensitive to foods (spicy or not) you will have problems. Eat only in main restaurants. Word of advice is prime your stomach before you travel to SE countries with street foods. I recommend priming stomach with Pepto on your flight to the country. Before you eat your first inflight meal pop a pepto tablet. Continue to take Pepto tablets for the next day or so. Do not eat it every day. I hear about travelers having diarrhea from the flight food alone. Never ever eat raw or semi raw shell fish. I can eat almost anything. I thought I had a cast iron stomach until I ate Thailands blood clams; the two times I ate it I ended up with hives and diarrhea from the bacteria. Even the local Thai girl I had dinner with ended up with hives and stomach issues. Lmao! Always drink bottled water no matter what. If you eat street stall foods like meat sticks; have the vendor reheat it to cook off the bacteria. Best of luck fellow travelers.

  7. John Clark says:

Great video, mate. It covered a lot of things I wondered about.

Sadly I won't be trying street vendors food, because my stomach is a sensitive sally. I fear I'd become a waterfall wonder down my leg for all to gaze and amuse 😂 about. Kudos to you all with the cast iron stomachs.

  8. abmong says:

9 times out of 10 you get the runs because you ate something that was too spicy hot than your stomach is used to and/or indigestion.
If you just have the runs some charcoal tablets will do you.
If you have a temperature and migraine it's probably dehydration or indigestion, drink lots of water and get some form of liquid of tablet antacid. And wait near a toilet.
Not many are aware, but when you have bad indigestion your brain tells the body to make more stomach acid, too much and it causes migraines.
If you're vomiting and all the above, go to the hospital because you probably have food poisoning or caught a bug.

  9. Mr Hyde says:

I can eat thai food, no problem, but stay away from the cold food, it makes you sick. Sallads and stuff. I eat thai food with chili in it, but then you must stay in your room for at least four hours, because your stomack is in a riot.
I think that chili is good for your stomack, and if you eat thai food with chili, the next two-tree hours, take a look at what you have produced. The look and smell of it is different from what you produce in your loo in Europe.
Thai food with chili is a very healthy thing.

  10. Paul1 says:

Speaking as someone who has travelled all over the world and has lived in Thailand for over 20 years I can say that Thai street food is the best that I've ever had. The only food poisoning that I have had was after I ate a burger from a well known American burger chain. Please try Thai street food when you come here it's delicious.

  11. T Amos says:

I plan to be there in mid June.I have been in Mexico for just over 2 months and I have eaten plenty of street food with no issues. The biggest concerns for meat especially pork/chicken and seafood is how it is stored before it is cooked.A bigger concern for chicken is if it has been cooked and gone cold and then reheated which is a golden ticket for food poisoning. It is funny how you can cook chicken through to the point of it being safe and then let it go cold and eat it like say with chicken breast in a salad etc and you are fine.

As for spicey food bring it on.I got used to it from my fathers tastes. He did a tour with the british army in SE asia when he was 20 and he came to love the food so much he learned to cook it.When he got back to Britain his father asked him if he could make curry and my dad said yes.My grand father said "well make some boy and make it hot".that is what my father did and he burned his own father out LOL.

In short look for good cleanliness and storage and cooking practises and you should be just fine with how spicey it is well that is another matter.

Thanks for the video Trev and I will look you up when I get there.

  12. Kenneth Henderson says:

A little common sense with street vendors, does it look clean, are many people purchasing the goods. Just pay attention to the details and you will be okay.

  13. Jay Phillips says:

When I lived in Saudi, the experienced ex-pats used to say make sure you have a flat coke from time to time because it was a good way to replace electrolytes. The same principle if you go out drinking, alcohol stimulates the production of urine which leaches out electrolytes again. When I used to drink, (been teetotal many years) would make sure that I had a coke, a bacon sandwich and a bottle of water the next morning.

Orange juice with your meals helps stimulate the liver AND the production of T3 in the Thyroid (good metabolic boost) just don't drink too much, just a couple of fingers with breakfast, and lunch otherwise, whole fruits are generally better.

If you are going to be eating lots of meat rice and eggs (standard Thai fare) then try and get some bitter greens in too. No matter what age, take a multi-vit tablet and I swear by Tumeric too (so a nice Ruby). Living healthy doesn't have to be boring.

  14. Hatts says:

Be very careful after rain and in particular when there has been a flood. The flood water has raw sewage in it from the septic systems in Pattaya, it's grey for a reason. The issue is that when there is water on the roads, the trafic sends up a mist which floats around and coats everything including the food being cooked up by the street vendors.
